The only difference is that the worshipers of 'other gods' are extinct. No one prays to norse, greek gods anymore.
Meanwhile hinduism and buddhism are still practiced to this day, my mom and dad are quite traditional and they are too devoted to lord shiva as well. We still have photos and idol Shiva placed in my home temple, so I would at least see some similarities.

Well I actually don't mind, I enjoyed the anime but would be more happy if they could have given Shiva some lore accurate to real hinduism. I just don't want anyone to be misinformed about Lord Shiva who are non-hindus to pick this backstory as the real thing.

If anything, it might push people to research the real thing. Ignorant folk will always be misinformed regardless of anime because rumors and stereotypes spread. Also Christianity is in this anime too, you would think making devils as gods would be just as insulting.

I agree the real Lord Shiva is nothing like the one portrayed here in this anime he's the exact opposite so I'm not seeing this Shiva as a God, I see this Shiva as just a character from an anime and nothing more

It was hilarious to see Ganesha call out Papa. I know they are supposed to be my gods by it was kinda funny. Also the fact that Durga, Kali (can't confirm whether it was Durga and Kali as I can't read Japanese) and Parvathi being different entities was refreshing to see(All three are actually supposed to be same in Hindu Myth though).

This is a one ugly episode.....they shattered my imagination of Indian gods...they are ugly ..... especially Hanuman and Ganesha.

Well it seems like a pretty low budget anime for some reason despite being produced by Netflix, Rudra is one of many names Shiva goes by and it is his God of roaring winds form. Even Kali, Durga and Parvati are portrayed as 3 different individuals, when they're the one

It's a japanese manga adapted by Netflix anddon't expect them to go too much justice to the other Mythos anyways where it is Hindu, Greek, Norse or Egyptian.

Just enjoy it as it's their interpretation of our gods. There are a lot of changes but it shouldn't stop you from enjoying the show. I would have loved to see shiva performing his nataraja dance while fighting though, it would have been pretty cool..

Rudra is just another name for shiva. And ganesha is supposed to only have a elephant head. The rest of him is clay. He was made out of parvati using clay.

Notice how fights are following a similar formula? The human dominates for a while and we think it is over for the god but god had another card and starts to dominate the fight. Surprise! human had a joker card and tables turn in his favour. Next thing they're both at their limits and it is now a battle of stamina or who can pull another joker card.
